https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/ELLit/article/view/3975

This comparative research analyzes the freedom of the main characters in two short stories "Aku Perempuan" by Indah Pratama and "The Sky is the Limit" by Rohini Vij using Sigmund Freud's Tripartite Personality, which consists of the Id, Ego, and Superego. The main issue in this research is how the conflict between personal desires, reality, and social norms affects the freedom of the main characters in these two stories. The aim of this research is to understand the psychological dynamics experienced by the main characters as they struggle to achieve freedom that is limited through self-realization. The researcher wants to see freedom from Id, Ego, Superego of each of the main characters of desires and what they actually want. The method used is qualitative analysis with Freud's theoretical approach, where data is obtained from the narrative texts of the two short stories. The finding of this research shows that they navigate the conflicts between the Tripartite of how the characters can get freedom through self-realization. This analysis highlights the importance of perseverance, social support, and self-determination. By understanding this, readers, especially women can achieve personal freedom within restrictive social contexts.
Rafael Aglis Ariya TamtamaRisca Jovita OdeliaStefanie Keren BunadiAnna Sriastuti

https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/ELLit/article/view/3976

The purpose of this research is to examine how the online PjBL Mixidea debate technique ought to be incorporated into the digital technology learning orientations at UPGRI Palembang to help students with their public speaking. The study employed a quasi-experimental technique known as a non-equivalent UPGRI Palembang. Data collection procedures: (1) validity; (2) reliability. A statistically significant difference was found in post-experiment speaking test scores between the experimental group and the control group, as compared to pre-experiment scores. Results improved for students who were taught with the PjBL Mixidea online debate method. When compared to the control group, the experimental group generally performs better on post-tests. After administering eight different treatments to students in class X at UPGRI Palembang, the authors found that PjBL Mixidea's online debate strategy boosted students' public speaking skills. The students are in agreement that employing PjBL Mixidea's method of online discussion can help them become better public speakers. Students who were educated using PjBL Mixidea's online debate approach clearly outperformed those who were not.
Aswadi JayaRudi HartonoSri WahyuniHenrikus Joko Yulianto

https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/ELLit/article/view/3977

The 2024 Indonesian presidential election is anticipated to be highly contested, with the potential for online hostility to escalate into real-world conflict. This study examines the impoliteness strategies used by supporters and haters of presidential candidates on social media, specifically within Instagram comments. Employing a qualitative approach, the study analyzed a sample of comments, revealing a predominance of negative impoliteness (70%), followed by positive impoliteness (46%). Sarcasm and mock impoliteness were observed in 17% of cases, while bald-on-record impoliteness was the least common (11%). Interestingly, no evidence of withhold politeness was found. These findings highlight the prevalence of online aggression in Indonesian election discourse, underscoring the need for strategies to mitigate the negative impacts of online impoliteness and protect national unity.
Raidatul HasanahSri Minda MurniFauziah Khairani Lubis

https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/ELLit/article/view/3983

Romance is always referred to as a way for men to dominate women through the identity, roles and attitudes that women must carry out in a love relationship. However, in the development of feminism, the breaking of masculine and feminine stereotypes has the effect that love no longer restrains women. As a female singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift tells many romance stories in her songs. This research discusses how Swift rewrites women in romance. The twelve selected songs explain that women know their existence, identity, position, and thoughts in romantic relationships. Gender equality in romance is also expressed in these songs through how women can become subjects in romance. She has the same role, status, desires and rights as men in romance. Women cannot only choose to break up but also take responsibility and face separation as well as men. She dared to separate, did not whine, and could continue life without her lover.
Yuli Mahmudah Sentana

https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/ELLit/article/view/3984

The research aims to discuss the concepts of ecocriticism in Robert Frost’s poems. There are two poems that will be discussed, namely “Out, Out-“ and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” The two poems are chosen as the primary data of the research because both poems depicts human and nature interaction. Ecocriticism itself is a literary theory that examines the relationship between literature and the natural world. It focuses on the setting of the two poems and human and nature relation. Descriptive research is chosen as the method of research because this research aims accurately describes a phenomenon of human and natural world in Robert Forst’s poems. In terms of literary study, there are three literary approaches that are relevant in the research. Structural and formalist approaches are the general ones when the research takes data from a poem, while the specific literary approach is ecocriticism approach. “Out, Out-“ and “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” are two of Robert Frost’s poem that portray the relation between human and natural world. They can be analyzed through ecocritical lens to explore the complex interplay between humans and nature, ecological consequences of human actions, and the intersection of human existence and the natural world.
Rr.
