Interaction often begins with a question from the teacher to the students, even if it is just a rhetorical question (a question that does not require an answer). Although questions start an interaction, it is not uncommon for questions to be the cause of interaction failure. Questions that do not get a good response from students can result in the failure of classroom interaction. In fact, there are many functions of questions, not only to measure students' understanding, but also to stimulate critical thinking and active involvement in learning. Based on this, it is important to learn how teachers deal with questions that do not get a response from students so that there is no failure of interaction. The purpose of this study is to find out how teachers overcome interaction obstacles if the questions given do not get a response from students. This study is qualitative research that uses classroom discourse analysis method. Data were collected from two language classes from different schools. What teachers do to overcome interaction failure in learning is repeating questions, paraphrasing question sentences, and giving additional questions or accompanying questions. The value system in this article focuses on the knowledge value system, belief value system and arts value system. Coastal communities do not only refer to entities that live on the coast, but also entities that produce systems of knowledge, beliefs and arts that have certain patterns. This community collectivity then gave birth to the identity of coastal communities. The unique thing about the Muria Raya area was that it was previously an island on the spice trade route between the Middle East and Maluku before the 17th century under the leadership of Queen Kalinyamat, which then due to sedimentation in the Muria Strait became one unit with the mainland of Java Island. So the characteristics of the community's value system are different from other communities on the north coast of Java. A qualitative approach was chosen with ethnographic analysis as a sharpening knife in this research. The results show that the Jepara people as one of the coastal entities living in the Muria Raya area have a very diverse knowledge value system. The rapid development of science and technological advances will have major consequences. Not only are the needs of society changing, but it also becomes a vehicle for internalizing character that originates from the values and culture of society. This concept gives rise to logical consequences, namely that every learning process, whatever the topic, must integrate cultural values as character education content, including social studies and science learning. One of the cultural elements that can be integrated in social studies and science learning is ethnoscience (indigenous public science) which is child-friendly for elementary school students. Ethnoscience is an original science (a community's knowledge system). Analysis of the literature shows that the integration of the ethnoscience approach can help the process of learning social science for students in elementary schools by paying attention to their special needs, facilitating the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and enriching the learning experience through the integration of local, traditional, and contextual knowledge. However, the challenges in integrating this approach, such as a deep understanding of students' cultural diversity and the development of relevant curricula, also need to be considered.
