Although these challenges have been well-documented globally, many school-based interventions are still based on problem-oriented, rather than potential-focused counseling models. Strengths-Based Counseling (SBC) offers a paradigm shift by emphasizing students' internal strengths, resilience, cultural identity, and capacity for growth. Rooted in positive psychology and humanistic principles, SBC aims to empower students as active agents in their healing and development. However, its implementation in educational contexts remains fragmented and under-researched. This article seeks to map and critically analyze existing strengths-based counseling models and interventions to support student mental health and to advocate for a more holistic, proactive, and empowering approach to school counseling practice. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design, drawing on four databases: Springer Link, Sage Journals, Science Direct, and Taylor & Francis. Specifically, inclusion and exclusion criteria were determined in this SLR to produce quality findings to answer the research question, which was to determine which strengths-based counseling models and interventions can be applied to support the mental health of students and adolescents. After a comprehensive study selection process, fifteen articles were identified as eligible for use in this study. The research findings indicate several effective strengths-based counseling models and interventions that can support students' mental health and holistic psychological well-being.
Agnes Mariana Mayangsari Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 1 5 The Effectiveness of Career Guidance Program to Improve Entrepreneurial Skill for Adolescents : a Systematic Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4751
Career guidance programs are considered as one of the important strategies to improve entrepreneurial skills in adolescents, especially in preparing them to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive world of work. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aims to analyze the effectiveness of career guidance programs in developing adolescent entrepreneurship skills based on empirical studies from published journals between 2020 and 2025. The research method followed the PRISMA protocol with a literature search in Scopus, ScienceDirect, ERIC, and Google Scholar databases using keywords such as “career guidance”, “entrepreneurial skills,” and “youth entrepreneurship.” Of the 5000 articles identified, 21 journals met the inclusion criteria, such as empirical studies, youth focus, and publication within the specified time frame. The results of the analysis show that structured and practice-based career guidance programs, such as entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and business simulation, significantly improve adolescents' entrepreneurial cognitive and behavioral skills, including creativity, risk management, and business planning capabilities. Supporting factors such as collaboration with industry players, project-based curriculum, and experiential learning approach also contributed to the success of the program. However, challenges such as limited resources, lack of training for counseling teachers, and gaps between theory and practice are still found in some studies. This SLR confirms that career guidance programs are effective in fostering adolescent entrepreneurial spirit, provided they are designed comprehensively and involve various stakeholders. Recommendations for future research include exploring the long-term impact of the program as well as adapting the web 3.0 based career guidance model to increase accessibility and participant engagement.
Aisyah Azzahro Dede Rahmat Hidayat Susi Fitri Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 6 17 The Influence of Hardiness on Digital Well-Being in Adolescents: A Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4752
Adolescents today live in a highly digitalized environment that offers opportunities and challenges. While digital technology provides access to information, learning, and communication, unwise use can lead to stress, anxiety, and emotional distress. Therefore, managing technology use in a balanced and mindful way has become a crucial aspect of adolescent life. This ability is called digital well-being, in which individuals engage with technology in a healthy, conscious, and purposeful manner that supports their mental, emotional, and social health. To maintain and enhance digital well-being, adolescents require internal personal resources to help them adapt to and cope with digital stressors. One such resource is hardiness, which enables adolescents to stay engaged, believe in their ability to influence outcomes, and view difficulties as opportunities for growth. This research aims to understand the influence of hardiness on adolescents’ digital well-being. This study uses a literature review approach, systematically collecting, reading, and analyzing various sources, including books, peer-reviewed journal articles, dissertations, e-books, and relevant case studies. The results of this research present a comprehensive overview of the relationship between these two constructs, which includes: 1) the “digital well-being” of adolescents, 2) the “hardiness” of adolescents, and 3) the contribution of hardiness to fostering and sustaining digital well-being among adolescents.
Alvia Ainil Lathifah Ilma Zaerotul Farida Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 18 25 Evaluating the Effectiveness of Online Single-Session SFBC in Reducing Academic Stress and Its Implications for School Psychoeducation https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4753
Academic stress is a widespread concern among junior high school students, heightened by increasingly rigorous academic demands and the growing prevalence of technology-mediated learning. Without effective coping strategies, sustained stress can impair academic performance, diminish motivation, and affect psychological well-being. This study examined the effectiveness of Single-Session Therapy grounded in Solution-Focused Brief Counseling (SST-SFBC) delivered online as a practical intervention to reduce academic stress, and explored its psychoeducational relevance for schools. Using a qualitative case study design, five students participated in one structured online counseling session via a secure video conferencing platform. Data sources included verbatim session transcripts, counselor notes, and student reflections. Thematic analysis identified the application of core SFBC techniques—miracle question, scaling, and future talk—and tracked shifts in students’ perceptions and emotional responses to academic challenges. Results showed a marked decrease in academic stress scores in the experimental group (mean 120.8 to 101.6), while the control group’s scores increased (128.6 to 131.8). Qualitative narratives reflected greater self-efficacy, improved problem-solving focus, and adoption of adaptive coping strategies rooted in personal strengths. From a psychoeducational perspective, online SST-SFBC functioned both as an efficient short-term intervention and as an empowering tool for fostering resilience and self-directed problem-solving. These findings suggest that SST-SFBC can serve as a scalable, flexible, and resource-efficient counseling approach, particularly valuable where access to extended counseling services is limited.
Andri Oktavianas Juntika Nurihsan Ipah Saripah Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 26 31 Determinants of Adolescent Psychological Well-being: A Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4754
Adolescence is a period of development that is full of challenges, both emotionally, socially, and psychologically. During this period, various significant changes occur that influence the psychological and social development of adolescents. Psychological well-being is one of the important aspects that needs to be developed so that adolescents are able to face various developmental challenges. This study aims to identify and analyze various factors influencing adolescents' psychological well-being. The study employs a literature review method, examining relevant scientific journals from the years 2022 to 2025. The literature review found that the factors determining psychological well-being are categorized into intrapersonal and interpersonal factors. Intrapersonal factors include aspects originating from the adolescents themselves, such as emotional intelligence, religiosity, mindfulness, self-efficacy, and achievement motivation. Meanwhile, external factors are those originating from outside the adolescent, such as social support and parental attachment. These findings are expected to provide important implications for schools, particularly guidance and counseling teachers, in the development and implementation of guidance and counseling interventions that consider the factors influencing adolescents' psychological well-being.
Aulia Rizky Ramadhani Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 32 37 Exploring the Importance of Forgiveness as a Character Strength: A Systematic Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4755
Forgiveness character plays a crucial role in emotional recovery and personal growth, particularly when individuals face painful experiences or interpersonal conflict. This approach is particularly important for senior students facing complex academic pressures, such as completing theses, final projects, and preparing for entry into the workforce. These pressures often lead to a decline in learning motivation and can increase the risk of academic stress. Therefore, a strategy is needed to improve academic resilience, namely the ability to persevere, adapt, and recover from academic difficulties. This study aims to examine the role of self-regulated learning as an adaptive strategy in 777⁷7⁷q the academic resilience of final-year students through a literature review. Data sources were obtained from several articles indexed in Scopus, Sinta, and DOAJ, with criteria of publications within the last five years and relevance to the topics of self-regulated learning and academic resilience. The results of the review indicate that self-regulated learning has a positive and significant relationship with academic resilience through improvements in self-efficacy, time management, and stress control. Several previous studies have also identified self-regulated learning as a mediator or bridge between academic resilience and learning achievement, as well as one of the main factors contributing to time delay. These findings reinforce the notion that self-regulated learning in higher education can be an important strategy for supporting the academic success and mental health of final-year students.
Elsa Inayatul Amalia Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 67 71 Group Counseling Services in Improving Academic Resilience: A Systematic Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4761
This study aims to identify the effectiveness of group counseling in improving academic resilience, the techniques and approaches used, and factors that influence the success of group counseling using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. However, field observations show that many students still do not exhibit disciplined behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between peer social interaction and self-control with the discipline of 11th Grade students at High School 6 Kediri. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method and multiple correlation analysis techniques. The sample consisted of 40 students from a population of 395, selected using cluster random sampling. The instruments used were three psychological scales: the peer social interaction scale (57 items), self-control scale (24 items), and student discipline scale (36 items), with reliability scores of 0.974, 0.982, and 0.985 respectively. Hypothesis testing results showed no significant relationship between peer social interaction and self-control with discipline, as evidenced by the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.642 (> 0.05). These findings suggest that student discipline is more influenced by external factors such as teacher supervision and school regulations rather than peer interaction and self-control. Therefore, schools need to strengthen consistent discipline systems and foster a culture of discipline through group guidance, habituation, and character building. Further research is recommended to explore other factors such as family influence, teacher leadership styles, and school climate on student discipline.
Rozy Bintang Ambar Pratiwi Yuanita Dwi Krisphianti Guruh Sukma Hanggara Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 119 124 The Implementation of Strengths-Based Counseling to Enhance Self-Confidence and Mental Health among Senior High School Students : A Systematic Literature Review https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4768
This study explores the effectiveness of implementing Strengths-Based Counseling (SBC) as a school-based intervention to enhance self-confidence and mental health in high school students. Adolescents often face various academic and social pressures that may negatively impact their psychological well-being and belief in their own abilities. In response to these challenges, SBC offers a positive, solution-oriented counseling approach that focuses on identifying and developing individual strengths, personal resources, and resilience rather than emphasizing problems or deficits. Pre- and post-tests were administered to both the experimental and control groups as part of the study's quasi-experimental methodology. Students with moderate to low levels of self-confidence and mental health as determined by standardized psychological tests were chosen to participate. The intervention was delivered in the form of structured group counseling sessions, conducted once a week over the course of one month. Each session focused on key elements of SBC, including strength identification, goal setting, future visualization, and the use of empowering language. Two psychological measures, one tailored to adolescents and the other to general populations, were used to gather data: a self-confidence scale and a mental health inventory. Experimental group participants showed statistically significant gains in self-confidence and mental health ratings when compared to control group participants, according to quantitative analysis utilizing paired-sample and independent-sample t-tests. In addition, qualitative observations during the counseling sessions indicated increased student participation, optimism, and interpersonal support among peers. The findings suggest that Strengths-Based Counseling can be a powerful and practical method for school counselors and educators to support students’ emotional and psychological development. By helping students focus on their abilities and what works in their lives, SBC can foster a more positive self-concept, better coping strategies, and a healthier school climate overall.
Shinta Ayu Listiani Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 125 129 The Use of Media in Career Guidance to Enhance Career Readiness Among Senior High School Students : A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4769
Career readiness for senior high school students is crucial because it helps them move smoothly into university or the job market. These challenges can significantly affect adolescents’ self-esteem and psychological well-being, especially in the context of academic demands, peer pressure, and family-related stress. Self-esteem serves as a vital foundation for positive psychological development, while psychological well-being encompassing self-acceptance, personal growth, purpose in life, and positive relationships is essential for overall mental health. In response to the limitations of deficit-focused counseling approaches, strength-based counseling (SBC) has emerged as a promising alternative that focuses on individual strengths, values, and potentials. Rooted in positive psychology, SBC aims to empower adolescents by fostering resilience, self-efficacy, and a more positive self-concept. This literature review aims to examine the effectiveness of strength-based counseling interventions in enhancing self-esteem and psychological well-being among adolescents. Through a systematic review of peer-reviewed studies published between 2010 and 2025, this study identifies key strategies, outcomes, and theoretical contributions of SBC interventions in adolescent populations. The findings suggest that SBC contributes to increased self-confidence, emotional regulation, and motivation in adolescents, and can be effectively implemented in school and community-based settings. One common effect of this change is Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), a feeling of anxiety caused by the fear of missing information or experiences that others enjoy online. Teenagers are particularly vulnerable to FoMO, which can negatively impact their emotions, behavior, academic performance, and daily life. This study aims to examine how self-regulation influences FoMO in teenagers who use social media. Self-regulation refers to a person’s ability to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to reach personal goals. It is believed that better self-regulation can reduce FoMO. The method used in this research is a literature review, which includes summaries and analysis of relevant articles, books, and documents. The findings suggest that higher self-regulation is linked to lower levels of FoMO. This situation certainly has a significant impact on their well-being. It is not uncommon for people with disabilities to withdraw from social life due to the perceived distance and stigma between them and the general public. In fact, counseling should serve as a safe space for people with disabilities to receive guidance and empathetic support. To achieve inclusive counseling services, a counseling approach rooted in local culture is needed so that the interventions provided are socially and emotionally accepted by clients. The local wisdom that can be integrated into counseling is the cultural values of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh. This study aims to examine how the principles of Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh can be adapted into counseling approach for people with disabilities. This research uses a qualitative method in the form of a literature study by analyzing existing sources such as journals, scientific articles, and other relevant literature.
Wilhelmina Olvi Anggraeni Rhestu Tilaras Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 149 154 CAREER ADAPTABILITY OF GENERATION Z MUSLIM https://proceeding.unnes.ac.id/agcaf/article/view/4773
VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) career challenges; adaptation of workers and robots in the era of society 5.0; increasing educated unemployment and mass layoffs are major challenges for Generation Z in planning their careers. Career adaptability is the ability to predict and prepare for various changes that may occur. This study aims to describe the career adaptability of Muslim graduates of Generation Z of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati. This descriptive survay quantitative study was conducted by distributing the Career Adaptability Scale–Short Form (CAAS-SF) Career Adaptability instrument (Maggiori et al., 2017) to 446 graduates. The career adaptability of Muslim graduates of Generation Z is in the moderate category. Graduates with a moderate level of career adaptability show sufficient interest in future career development, although preparation and awareness of educational choices are not always consistent; tend to make their own decisions and take responsibility for their actions, have a moderate curiosity to explore opportunities, and are quite confident in overcoming obstacles, although sometimes they still depend on the help of others and require more effort in developing new skills. There is no significant difference between male and female prospective graduates. From an Islamic perspective, after possessing the desire for change and enthusiasm (hamasah), Generation Z graduates also need to apply the principle of tawakkal (religious commitment) in their career development process.
Yessika Nurmasari Copyright (c) 2025 Proceedings of Annual Guidance and Counseling Academic Forum 2025-10-09 2025-10-09 155 161
