Abstract

Abstrak. Pembentukan dan perkembangan karakter anak tidaklah muncul secara spontan begitu saja. Karakter dibentuk melalui serangkaian proses selama masa perkembangan hidup individu. Masa pembentukan dan perkembangan karakter yang paling awal adalah pada anak usia dini. Pembahasan mengenai pendidikan karakter anak usia dini tidak dapat dilepaskan dari lembaga Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD). Oleh karena itu, peranan guru PAUD sangat penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran pemahaman tentang 4 (empat) prinsip pengembangan pendidikan karakter: berkelanjutan; dilaksanakan melalui semua mata pelajaran, pengembangan diri, dan budaya sekolah; pengembangan nilai; dan proses pendidikan dilakukan secara aktif dan menyenangkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket melalui Google Form, dengan responden sebanyak 112 terdiri dari guru TK se kecamatan Panongan, Tangerang, Banten. Hasil penelitian, penulis menemukan bahwa para guru telah memahami pentingnya pendidikan karakter pada anak usia dini, pendidikan karakter harus dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dari TK A ke TK B, dan menyatu dalam 6 ranah pengembangan diri di PAUD, merupakan proses pengembangan dan pembentukan nilai-nilai moral, dilakukan secara kontekstual dan konkrit, serta proses pembelajaran dilakukan secara menyenangkan. Selain itu, para guru juga sangat menekankan pentingnya dukungan orangtua dalam pendidikan karakter agar apa yang diperoleh siswa di sekolah dapat selaras dengan pendidikan karakter di keluarga.

Abstract. The development of children's character building does not appear spontaneously. Character is formed through a series of processes during the development of an individual's life. The earliest period of character building and development is in early childhood. The discussion on early childhood character education cannot be separated from the Early Childhood Education institution (PAUD). Therefore, the role of teachers and Early Childhood institutions is very important in character education for early childhood. This study aims to obtain an understanding of 4 (four) principles of character education development: sustainable; implemented through all subjects, self-development, and school culture; value development; and the educational process is carried out by students in an active and enjoyable. The research method used in this research is a descriptive quantitative method. The data was collected using a questionnaire distributed through Google Form, with 112 respondents consisting of kindergarten teachers in the Panongan district, Tangerang, Banten. Based on the results of the research conducted, the authors found that teachers have understood the importance of character education in early childhood, character education must be carried out continuously from Kindergarten A to Kindergarten B, character education is integrated into 6 areas of self-development in Early Childhood institution, character education is a development process and the formation of moral values, character education is carried out contextually and concretely, and the learning process is carried out in enjoy full. In addition, the teachers also strongly emphasize the importance of parental support in character education so that what students get at school can be in line with character education in the family.
