Abstract

FunSwim, or game-based swimming, is a multifunctional approach that integrates physical, educational, and psychological elements in children’s aquatic activities. This paper reviews recent empirical evidence (2023-2025) regarding the benefits of FunSwim within physical education contexts, sports therapy interventions (particularly aquatic therapy), and child psychological outcomes such as water anxiety, self-confidence, and emotional regulation. Based on an analysis of more than ten studies-including randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and local quantitative research-the findings indicate that FunSwim approaches using adaptive techniques and cognitive elements (such as CBT) can reduce fear of water, enhance self-confidence and aquatic motor skills, and support children’s psychosocial development. Practical implications for physical education teachers, sport therapists, and child sport psychologists are outlined, along with recommendations for future research.
