Abstract

Handball is a team sport that requires excellent physical condition and mastery of basic techniques, where shooting effectiveness is crucial to achieve victory. This study aims to analyze the success and failure rates of various shooting techniques and the most frequently used shooting area positions in the women's final match of the 2025 Central Java Porprov Qualification Round between the Semarang City Team and Banyumas Regency. Using a non-experimental quantitative descriptive method and video observation instruments, descriptive statistical analysis in the form of percentages was applied. As a result, the Semarang City Team won the match with a final score of 21-16. Both teams used the Flying Shot technique most often (Semarang: 14 successful shots; Banyumas: 10 successful shots). Specifically, Semarang City achieved the highest success rate on Penalties (90%) but recorded a 100% failure rate on Side Throws. Meanwhile, Banyumas Regency achieved 100% success on Penalties but a total failure rate (100%) on Standing Throw Shoots. The most effective shooting area for Semarang City was the Front Left Wing (100% success), although overall, shots most often came from the Front Right Wing. These results indicate that coaches should use this data as a guideline. Improvements to training should focus on techniques with high failure rates and optimize the accuracy of Flying Shots, as well as exploring the effectiveness of other areas of the field.
