Reading and writing skills are important aspects in the academic development of students at the elementary level. However, not all students have the same proficiency in both of these skills. Therefore, this classroom action research aims to investigate the use of flash card media as an effective learning tool to enhance the reading and writing skills of second grade students. This research was conducted in an elementary school involving one second grade class as the research subject. The classroom action research approach was utilized, comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection cycles. Flash card media was used in teaching with the objective of increasing student interest and motivation while aiding them in better understanding learning concepts. The research findings indicate that the use of flash card media is effective in improving the reading and writing skills of second grade students. There was a significant improvement in students' reading and writing abilities following the implementation of this media. Furthermore, student participation and interest in learning also increased significantly. Based on these research findings, it is concluded that the use of flash card media can be an effective alternative in enhancing the reading and writing skills of second grade students. Recommendations for further research include involving more research subjects and expanding the use of flash card media to various subject matters and other learning contexts.
