RODAT DANCE FESTIVAL: ARENA OF CREATIVITY IN NON FORMAL EDUCATION IN PALEMBANG CITY
Abstract
Abstract. This research aims to analize the Rodat dance festival as an arena for creativity for art workers in non formal education (art-studios) in the city of Palembang. This research examines the creativity of art workers at non formal educational institutions (art-studios) in the city of Palembang, who take part in the Rodat dance festival, where the material in this festival is the development/creation of the Palembang Rodat Dance. The Rodat dance is a traditional dance that has an Islamic spirit, where in the Rodat dance there is a mission to preach and spread the religion of Islam, because it contains poems of praise to Allah SWT and Rasulullah SAW; as one of the dances that developed in South Sumatera, especially the city of Palembang. The Rodat dance has several basic movements and floor patterns that are almost similar to the Saman dance from Aceh. It containts Islamic cultural values which are one of the identities of the people of Palembang city. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with an etnochoreological approach. Data collection using observation, interviews, literature study and documentation. The result of this research cotribute to understanding the creative side of development in Rodat dance carried out by art worker at non formal educational institutios (art-studios) in the city of Palembang, so that Rodat dance can be presented more interestingly, so that it can increase people’s interest in learning it.
