ENGLISH TEACHERS` PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES IN INDONESIA

Abstract

In effort to be a developed country in the one hundred years of Indonesians` independence, Indonesia must have good education to create better Indonesia golden generations. One way to do so, Indonesia must improve its teacher’s quality including English teachers. There are not many articles discussing English teachers’ development strategies and this article aims to analyse the strategies which are planned by Indonesian`s government to develop English teachers` quality.  Through library research method, it is found there are at least six strategies to develop English teachers like preparing teacher candidate, carrying out a strict teacher recruitment, providing ongoing teachers professional development, improving teachers` prosperity, providing teachers with advanced technology mastery, and Improving education curriculum.
